“Meri Tanhai” brings Kubra Khan and Azaan Khan together in a riveting drama

KARACHI: The success of any drama unquestionably depends on teamwork, and certain names are synonymous with guaranteed success. HUM TV’s upcoming drama “Meri Tanhai” seems to follow this trend, with many factors contributing to its promising potential.

This production, created by Farhat Ishtiaq, written by Shazia Atta, and directed by Mir Sikandar, marks the return of Armeena Rana Khan to the screen after a long hiatus. The drama also stars Kubra Khan, Azaan Sami Khan, and Syed Jibran in key roles.
The storyline revolves around a lonely man whose deprived decisions lead to the devastation of his own life and profoundly affect the lives of his wife and daughter.

Kubra Khan belongs to a family raised solely by her mother (Armeena Rana Khan) after her father, Ali (Syed Jibran), deserts them following a quarrel and remarries. Kubra’s mother never forgives her husband’s betrayal and passes away, leaving a permanent mark on her daughter’s life. This sad combination of her mother’s struggles and her father’s betrayal leaves Kubra emotionally broken and isolated, fuelling a deep hatred for her father.

Meanwhile, Syed Jibran spends the rest of his life regretting his decision to leave his family and remarry. Despite his second marriage, he is unable to forget his first wife and daughter. His nephew, Azaan Sami Khan, who deeply loves his uncle, resolves to reunite him with his estranged family and restore his devastated life.

During his search, Azaan meets Kubra Khan but cannot reveal the truth about his identity due to her intense animosity towards her father. The two fall deeply in love, and their relationship flourishes until she comes to know about Azaan Sami Khan’s connection to her father.

But what will happen when Kubra learns the truth about Azaan Sami Khan?
Will Ali (Syed Jibran) be able to make amends for his daughter’s loneliness and the hardships she endured?
Will Azaan convince Kubra of the sincerity of his love? Will he discover the factual reasons behind his uncle’s falling-out from his first wife?

And will Kubra, who harbours a profound resentment towards her father and everything connected to him, forsake her love for Azaan, or will she move forward and embrace a brighter future?

“Meri Tanhai” will premiere on HUM Entertainment on Monday, December 30, at 8pm.
