ISLAMABAD: The Met Office has predicted more rain, thunderstorm along with gusty winds for Karachi and other parts of Sindh in the next 24 hours.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain with gusty winds in the south-eastern region of the province including Karachi.
According to the PMD, the weather system that caused the rain was formed in the Arabian Sea and moved towards the coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan. The highest rainfall recorded in the country was 94 mm in Pasni, Balochistan.
In Karachi, 6 mm of rain was recorded, while in other parts of Sindh, Thatta, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar and Dadu also received rainfall.
The rain has brought down the temperature in Karachi and other cities, making the weather pleasant and chilly.
The PMD has advised the people to take precautionary measures against the strong winds.
The rain in Sindh comes after a dry and hot spell that lasted for several weeks.
The PMD had predicted below normal rainfall in Sindh and Balochistan in the monsoon season of 2023, due to unfavourable climatic conditions in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. However, the weather system that developed in the Arabian Sea has brought some unexpected showers to the region.
In 2023, Pakistan experienced near-average rainfall during the monsoon season, with a +4% deviation from the normal. However, some regions, such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, received below-average rainfall and faced drought-like conditions.
