Met Office issues flash flood warning for Balochistan


Weather update: Met Office warned of flash flooding in local water inlets in Gwadar, Washuk, Kharan, Panjgur, Noshki and Kech, Awaran, and Kalat.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a weather warning for Balochistan residents regarding potential flash floods and road closures due to snowfall and heavy rain.

According to PMD, substantial snowfall is expected to hinder road travel in northern Balochistan, possibly leading to road closures. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall poses a significant risk of flash flooding in local streams and other water inlets in Gwadar, Ketch, Panjgur, and Awaran districts.

In southwest Balochistan, rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected alongside intermittent snowfall.

The PMD also issued weather alerts for various other parts of Pakistan. Murree, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Mansehra, and Abbottabad may experience snowfall, potentially affecting transportation routes.

Similarly, snowfall accompanied by strong winds is expected in Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Bagh, and Poonch.

Sargodha weather update

Meanwhile, residents of Sargodha can expect cold winds and rainfall in the city and its surrounding areas.

The PMD advised against unnecessary travel and urged residents to take necessary safety precautions, given the heightened risk of flash floods and electricity outages.
