Met Office predicts another rain, thundershower spell

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast indicating the likelihood of rain, wind, and thundershowers in upper regions of Pakistan over the next 24 hours.

While most parts of the country will experience hot and dry weather, specific areas are expected to witness varying weather conditions.

In the capital city, Islamabad, partly cloudy weather with the possibility of rain, wind, and thundershowers is anticipated.

Similarly, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region is expected to have partly cloudy weather, with chances of rain, wind, and thundershowers in various districts, including Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Shangla, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshehra, Kohat, and Kurram.

The Punjab province will predominantly have dry weather; however, certain areas like Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Lahore, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Khushab, and Mianwali may experience rain, wind, and thundershowers.

Most districts of Balochistan are expected to witness hot and dry weather, while Sindh will encounter dry weather in most areas, with partly cloudy conditions along the coastal regions.

In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, the PMD has predicted partly cloudy weather accompanied by rain, wind, and thundershowers.

Over the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather prevailed across the majority of the country. However, lower Sindh, Bahawalpur, and Bagrote experienced rain, wind, and thundershowers.

Rainfall measurements during this period were as follows: Badin 54mm, Sakrand 24mm, Chhor and Shaheed Benazirabad 12mm in Sindh, Bahawalpur (Airport) 09mm in Punjab, and Bagrote 03mm in Gilgit-Baltistan.

 

The highest recorded maximum temperatures were 44°C in Turbat and 41°C in Lasbela.
