Militant attack on policeman’s home sparks panic in Bannu


WEB DESK: A violent incident unfolded in the Dogar Umarzai area of Bannu District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where militants carried out a brazen assault on the residence of a serving policeman.

According to local and police sources, a group of 40 to 50 armed militants stormed the home of Constable Qadeer, who is attached to the CPEC Police tasked with securing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The attackers abducted the constable and set the house ablaze, completely destroying three rooms and household belongings.

The abduction and fire caused widespread panic among family members and neighbouring residents, highlighting the persistent security challenges in Bannu amid sporadic militant activity.

Authorities have launched a thorough investigation, but no further details on the officer’s whereabouts or the identity and motives of the assailants have been released. Police described the probe as active, focusing on tracing the abductors and ensuring the safe recovery of Constable Qadeer.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s border districts, where security personnel frequently face targeted attacks, kidnappings, and retaliatory actions by militant groups.
