WEB DESK: In a noteworthy development, mobile services in Pakistan are gradually being reinstated following a temporary shutdown that persisted for approximately 12 hours on the polling day.
Users throughout the country experienced difficulties in making and receiving calls, particularly during the early hours of the day.
Contrary to the assurance provided by the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) just two days ago that there were no plans to suspend mobile internet services on February 8, an unforeseen disruption unfolded, impacting both mobile data and call services on a nationwide scale.
The sudden cessation of services raised concerns among mobile users, leading to inquiries into the cause of the interruption.
Nevertheless, there is a positive development, as mobile services are currently in the process of being restored across the country.
This turn of events brings relief to the affected users and businesses heavily reliant on seamless mobile communication.
The Interior Ministry declared the partial restoration of mobile services across various regions of Pakistan, which had been temporarily suspended during the voting process.
According to a post on X, the ministry reported the partial restoration of mobile services in several areas, including Punjab’s Bhakkar, Sargodha, Taxila, and Gujar Khan Chakri, as well as Loralai, Jhal Magsi, and Sibi in Balochistan.
