ISLAMABAD: In a stunning turn of events, Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir has announced his return to international cricket, following in the footsteps of teammate Imad Wasim.

Amir, who retired from international cricket in 2020, revealed that constructive discussions with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials paved the way for his comeback.

Expressing his eagerness to don the green jersey once again, Amir affirmed his availability for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

“I’ve had positive talks with PCB officials, and I’m grateful for their support,” said Amir. “I believe I still have a lot to offer to my country, and representing Pakistan remains a dream for me.”

Amir emphasized his unwavering commitment to serving Pakistan, stating, “Life sometimes offers us opportunities to reassess our decisions. My desire to play for Pakistan has never wavered, and it never will.”

The announcement comes hot on the heels of Imad Wasim’s decision to reverse his retirement, also motivated by the prospect of representing Pakistan in the T20 format.

Wasim, who played an important role in the victory of Islamabad United in the 9th edition of the Pakistan Super League, reaffirmed his dedication to bringing glory to his nation.

“For me, Pakistan always comes first,” declared Wasim. “I’m determined to give my best on the field and make my country proud.”

With both Amir and Wasim eyeing a comeback, the Pakistani cricket fraternity is abuzz with anticipation, as fans eagerly await their return to the international arena.
