WEB DESK: Security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in the Sheikh Banda area of Mohmand district on 4 June 2026, killing two militants, according to security officials.

One of the deceased was identified as an Afghan national, officials said, according to ISPR.

Weapons, suicide jacket recovered from site

Security sources said weapons, foreign currency, an identity card and a suicide jacket were recovered from the possession of the militants.

The Afghan identity document reportedly identified one of the deceased as Umar Bilal, a resident of Afghanistan’s Khost province. Officials added that the material recovered is being examined as part of further investigation.

They further said that initial findings suggested the presence of organised militant networks operating in the border regions, adding that such groups continue to exploit difficult terrain to carry out attacks against security forces.

Security officials link case to cross-border militancy concerns

Security officials said the incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding the presence of militants operating across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

They maintained that such groups continue to exploit difficult terrain in border regions to target security forces and civilians.

Pakistan has repeatedly urged Afghan authorities to prevent the use of their territory for militant activity, officials said, adding that security forces remain committed to continuing intelligence-based operations to eliminate militancy from the region.

Officials also reiterated that all available resources are being utilised to dismantle support networks of proscribed outfits.

They said enhanced surveillance and coordinated operations have significantly disrupted militant mobility in recent months.
