Mohsin Naqvi announces free treatment for people affected by substandard eye injections

LAHORE: Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday announced free treatment for people affected by the use of substandard injections.
“Immediate strict action against drug inspectors responsible for the availability of non-sterile injections with a pending inquiry,” wrote Naqvi on ‘X. He also announced the formation of a high-powered inquiry team to investigate the matter.
Naqvi also ordered to stop the sale of injection along with lifting the stock from the market till the submission of the inquiry report.
“Police are instructed to ensure the arrests of those responsible,” he added.

He presided over a meeting at the CM Office today in which a detailed briefing was given on the loosing of sight incident due to eye injection. The eye specialist doctors gave a briefing about the usage of injection and its method. Preventive measures and steps being taken for the eradication of conjunctivitis disease were reviewed during the meeting.
Provincial Ministers Dr Javed Akram, Dr. Jamal Nasir, Amir Mir, Chief Secretary, Secretary of School Education, Secretary of Higher Education, Secretary of Information, eye specialists Dr Asad Aslam, Dr Huma, Dr Khalid Waheed, Dr Hamid Ayoub and concerned officials attended the meeting.
