WEB DESK: Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Riyadh on Tuesday evening for an official visit aimed at further strengthening bilateral and strategic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Upon his arrival at the King Khalid International Airport, the interior minister was warmly received by his Saudi counterpart, Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, according to APP.
Official sources stated that the high-level reception emphasised the close, long-standing relationship between the two nations, particularly across security sectors.
High-level security cooperation
During his stay in the kingdom, Naqvi is scheduled to hold extensive discussions with senior Saudi officials. The talks will focus heavily on enhancing collaboration in internal security, sharing intelligence on counter-terrorism, and strengthening joint law enforcement frameworks.
The two sides are also expected to explore avenues for expanding institutional cooperation between their respective interior ministries, aiming for a more streamlined approach to regional security challenges.
A key agenda item for the official visit is the formulation of a cohesive strategy to combat cross-border narcotics trafficking. Given Naqvi’s dual portfolio overseeing narcotics control, both delegations will deliberate on cutting off drug smuggling routes and enhancing maritime and airport surveillance.
