TEHRAN/ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has arrived in Tehran for meetings with senior Iranian officials, Iranian state media reported on Wednesday, marking his second visit to the Iranian capital in less than a week as Islamabad continues diplomatic efforts linked to Iran–US tensions.
Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency, citing informed diplomatic sources in Islamabad, said Naqvi travelled to Tehran for talks with Iranian officials. No immediate details of the agenda were provided.
The visit comes just three days after Naqvi met Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni in Tehran on Saturday, where both sides discussed bilateral relations and measures to enhance border trade, transit and exchange of goods, according to IRNA.
During that earlier trip, Naqvi also held meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Interior Minister Momeni, the report said.
Pakistan has positioned itself as a potential mediator in efforts to ease tensions between Iran and the United States, diplomatic sources said.
The latest visit comes amid ongoing regional tensions and stalled diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran, with Islamabad maintaining contacts with both sides, according to officials.
