Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has issued a series of strongly worded statements, expressing confidence in both diplomatic and military outcomes while signalling a potential shift in Tehran’s approach to the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
In posts shared on X, Khamenei said Iran remains hopeful of achieving a “decisive triumph” over its adversaries, both at the negotiating table and on the battlefield. He framed this expectation in religious terms, invoking the belief in divine support and prayers associated with Imam Mahdi, which he said would soon yield visible results.
The Iranian leader also hinted at a significant policy shift regarding the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy transit route, stating that its “management” would enter a “new phase.” While he did not elaborate on specific measures, the remarks are likely to raise concerns internationally, given the waterway’s importance to global oil supplies.
Despite the assertive tone, Khamenei maintained that Iran does not seek war. However, he stressed that the country would not compromise on what he described as its “legitimate rights.” He further reflected Iran’s alignment with allied groups across the region, referring to the “Resistance Front” as a unified force.
In a particularly charged statement, Khamenei said the Iranian nation remains committed to avenging the killing of its former leader Ali Khamenei and others who died in what he termed the “Second and Third Imposed Wars.” He said this resolve continues to shape the country’s national outlook and long-term objectives.
The remarks come at a time of heightened regional tensions, with ongoing hostilities and an increasingly volatile security environment across the Middle East.
