ISLAMABAD: Actress Momina Iqbal has clarified her statement regarding messages from Pakistani cricketers.
Momina Iqbal addressed the controversy surrounding her comments about Pakistani cricketers through a detailed message on her Instagram stories.
In her Instagram post, she wrote that she did not say anything wrong about the cricketers, and the social media pages and TV channels that wanted to gain fame from her statement have already done so, prompting her to provide some clarification.
She stated that she did not name any cricketer nor did she say anything incorrect about anyone, accusing people of spreading unnecessary controversies.
Momina Iqbal explained that there was already a controversy related to cricketers, and she was asked about it on a show, to which she responded. She emphasized that she did not make any inappropriate comments nor did she say that any cricketers or anyone else had harassed her. The actress asserted that if any cricketer or anyone else harassed her, she is capable of setting them straight herself and urged people not to spread unnecessary negativity.

She also mentioned that the public should speak up on matters where it is necessary. As an example, she cited a recent incident where an official assaulted a woman on a train, and her body was later found, yet no one spoke about it; they only heard about it on TV news.
It should be noted that a few days ago, during a private TV show, the host asked Momina Iqbal if she had ever received messages from any cricketers. To this, the actress revealed that she had indeed received messages from Pakistani cricketers. She explained that since they are people who are around the media, such messages lead to a friendly exchange of greetings or conversations if they meet somewhere.
When asked by the host what the cricketers’ messages contained, she replied that they were simple messages like ‘hi, how are you.’ However, despite the host’s questioning, the actress refrained from revealing the names of the cricketers who messaged her, stating that she does not remember their names and questioned why she should reveal them, as it would only make them famous.
She mentioned that the cricketers who messaged her were former team members, older than her, and were batsmen.”
