MPs salaries, incentives increased ahead of IMF talks

The caretaker Federal Government has increased the pay and utilities’ allowance for management position officers (MP I, MP II, and MP III) by 45 percent ahead of the Pak-IMF talks.

The change takes effect from October 1, 2023, and comes after the previous government raised executive allowances by 150% for officers at the Pakistan Secretariat in February 2023.

For MP-I grade, the maximum basic salary, house rent, and other allowances have collectively been raised to Rs 1,013,920 from Rs 699,350.

The minimum collective amount for MP-I is now Rs 804,180, up from Rs 554,600 per month. The maximum basic salary for MP-I is Rs 772,780, while the minimum is Rs 629,230 as of October 1, 2023.

House rent for this scale has increased, with the minimum going from Rs 101,000 to Rs 146,450, and the maximum from Rs 142,000 to Rs 205,900. Additionally, the minimum utilities allowance has increased from Rs 19,650 to Rs 28,500, and the maximum has gone from Rs 24,300 to Rs 35,240.

Govt revises profit rates on savings schemes

For MP-II, the maximum collective basic salary, house rent, and other allowances have increased to Rs 599,704 from Rs 413,600 per month. The minimum for MP-II is now Rs 370,850, up from Rs 255,750 per month.

As for MP-III, the maximum basic pay is now Rs 263,190, and the minimum is Rs 184,230 per month.

MP scale officers also receive additional benefits such as TA/DA on official tours, both domestic and abroad, medical facilities, and gratuity.

The finance division notes that relevant divisions and ministries will cover the expenses from their allocated budget for the current fiscal year, and the revised MP package will apply automatically to existing incumbents in MP scales going forward.
