Altaf Hussain hospitalised

LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain was admitted to a hospital in London on Tuesday after his health suddenly deteriorated, party sources said.

According to medical sources, Hussain’s blood count dropped to dangerously low levels on February 1, prompting doctors to conduct an immediate blood transfusion.

Following the procedure, his condition showed improvement, but he remains under close medical supervision. Authorities described his current condition as stable.

Doctors have recommended a series of diagnostic tests, including continuous ECG and heart monitoring, CT scan, ultrasound, and ongoing blood tests, to evaluate the effects of the transfusion and assess his overall health.

MQM officials said that Hussain had recently been under significant emotional and mental stress.

Party sources cited international geopolitical developments and ongoing legal and financial matters in the United Kingdom as major contributors to his anxiety.

Mustafa Aziz Abadi, a senior MQM leader based in London, confirmed Hussain’s hospitalisation and ongoing medical care, adding that the party leadership is closely monitoring his health situation.
