Multan Sultans seek clarification from PSL management over contract issues

LAHORE: Tensions between the Multan Sultans franchise and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) administration have escalated as the team has once again approached league management seeking clarity on contractual matters, reliable sources said on Monday.

According to insiders, Multan Sultans have written another formal letter to the PSL management, questioning why they have not been issued a new offer letter ahead of the next cycle. The franchise has also demanded the valuation report for the league and an updated offer letter, saying both documents are essential for moving forward with future planning.

Sources confirmed that the previous contracts for all PSL teams, including Multan Sultans, remain valid until December 31. They added that the PSL management has not suspended or cancelled Multan Sultans’ existing agreement.

Officials familiar with the situation said the PSL administration had withheld a new contract from the Sultans due to what they described as “non-compliance” issues. The standoff reportedly worsened after team owner Ali Tareen repeatedly made public statements criticising the PSL and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) leadership.

In a further sign of strained relations, sources revealed that the PCB had issued a legal notice to the franchise, a notice that Ali Tareen tore up in protest on a widely shared video on his social media.

The ongoing dispute has raised concerns about the franchise’s future involvement in the league, although no official termination action has been taken. Both sides have yet to issue public statements regarding the latest developments.
