Mumbai police have formed 15 investigative teams to identify and arrest those responsible for firing at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in the Juhu area, as investigators examine CCTV footage, forensic findings and ballistic evidence. According to National Herald India, a social media post claiming the attack was carried out by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has not been authenticated.
The 36-year-old actor escaped without gunshot injuries in Sunday evening’s incident near Pushpa Park. His driver, Firdaus, and an autorickshaw driver identified as Chauhan were injured and taken for medical treatment, according to police.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured Shroff of the state government’s support and ordered a swift investigation. The Chief Minister’s Office said Fadnavis spoke to the actor following the shooting and promised action against those involved.
Fadnavis, who also holds the state’s home portfolio, sought an update from Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti and directed him to speed up the investigation and ensure the attackers were apprehended.
A police official said the 15 teams comprise personnel from the Mumbai Crime Branch and local police units. Their investigation is focused on establishing how the shooting unfolded and identifying those who carried it out.
Investigators are reviewing CCTV recordings from the surrounding area to trace the suspects’ movements and determine how many people were involved. A video circulating online appears to show a person firing at the vehicle, although the footage is part of the ongoing investigation.
Forensic specialists have also examined the scene and the car, collecting ballistic evidence to help determine the number of shots fired and establish other details of the attack.
Meanwhile, a post on social media claiming to represent the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has purportedly taken responsibility for the shooting. Police have not verified its authenticity, and investigators have yet to establish whether the gang was involved.
The incident has prompted criticism from opposition leaders, who have raised questions about public safety and the Maharashtra government’s handling of law and order. The allegations come as police continue efforts to establish the motive behind the attack.
Shroff made his Hindi film debut in 2014 with Heropanti and later starred in action films including Baaghi, Baaghi 2 and War. He also co-founded the mixed martial arts promotion Matrix Fight Night in 2019.
