MANSEHRA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers have been challenged in Mansehra’s National Assembly-15 constituency.
The three-times former prime minister has filed his nomination papers to contest election from NA-15, which covers part of Mansehra district and the entire Torghar district.
The appeal against the approval of Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers has been filed by advocate Waqar Khan on behalf of a private citizen.
The petition argues that since the former prime minister has been disqualified for life by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, he should not be allowed to contest the upcoming general election. “Nawaz Sharif did not even appear in person before the returning officer (RO) who approved his nomination,” the petition alleges.

On December 21, 2023, the PML-N chief filed his nomination papers in the NA-15 constituency, which is considered a stronghold of his party.
A relative of PML-N leader Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar secured a seat in this consistency in the 2018 general election. Safdar also won the same seat in the 2013 elections.
The hearing of the appeal against Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers will be held on January 5.
