NA-47, NA-48 results challenged in IHC

PTI-backed candidates from NA-47 and NA-48, Islamabad, have challenged election results in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The results for NA-47, NA-48 were challenged by Shoaib Shaheen and Ali Bukhari, who have also requested for the plea to be heard today.

Talking to the media outside the IHC, Bukhari congratulated the people on the party candidates’ overall success in the election. He claimed that he was winning with a lead of 53,000 in NA-48, but the elections were “stolen”.

Bukhari said he will be lodging an FIR against the RO and there will be a judicial inquiry.

Shaheen stated, “I have the Form 47 with me. We won the election with a heavy margin.”

He said judiciary was their only hope.

PML-N candidate Tariq Fazal Chaudhary has emerged victorious from the National Assembly constituency of NA-47 Islamabad II.

According to provisional results, Chaudhary secured 102,502 votes beating PTI-backed candidate Mohammad Shaoaib Shaheen who could only clinch 86,396 votes.

While in NA-48 Independent Candidate Raja Khuram Shehzad Nawaz has won the election by securing 69,699 votes.

 According to the unofficial result issued by the Returning Officer/ECP, his runner-up was Independent candidate Syed Muhammad Ali Bukhari, who bagged 59,851 votes.
