NA briefed on Gulf deportations: NCCIA reports above 0.1mln cybercrime related complaints

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly was informed on Tuesday about a sharp rise in cybercrime-related complaints as well as the number of Pakistanis deported from Gulf countries over the past several years during the question hour session.
According to official documents, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) received 531,026 complaints since 2023. Over the past four years, the agency conducted 80,226 inquiries and registered 5,755 cases.
The report said that 7,600 individuals were arrested, while charges were framed against 199 people. A total of 877 individuals were acquitted in cases processed by the agency during the same period.

In a separate briefing, the Ministry of Interior informed the House that 164,788 Pakistanis were deported from Gulf countries over the past five years.

Saudi Arabia deported 108,029 Pakistanis, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 40,497, Oman with 9,814, Qatar with 2,971, Bahrain with 2,779, and Kuwait with 698 deportations during the same period.
