RAWALPINDI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi has issued summons to four individuals, including Malik Riaz’s son, Ali Riaz Malik, in connection with a money laundering probe involving Bahria Town Limited.
Other three individuals NAB summoned under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2010 include Khalilur Rehman, Muhammad Ishaq, and Aamir Rasheed Awan.
They have been directed to appear before the NAB regional office in Rawalpindi on August 26 at 10am.
The summons state that investigators have found evidence suggesting their involvement in acquiring, converting, transferring and misusing funds.
It further notes that the individuals possess information or documents that fall under offences defined in the Anti-Money Laundering Act. They have been asked to join the inquiry along with relevant documents.
Bahria Town’s money laundering network
On August 7, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar claimed that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has seized “irrefutable evidence” of a sophisticated money laundering network allegedly operated by Bahria Town and its founder, Malik Riaz.
In a video message, Tarar said that a raid conducted by the FIA led to the discovery of documents detailing transactions worth Rs1.12 billion.
According to the minister, investigators found that a front office was being run out of Safari Hospital, a Bahria Town facility.

The hospital’s ambulances were allegedly used to transport cash and sensitive documents to conceal the illicit activities.
During the raid, hospital staff reportedly attempted to burn records, but a significant portion of the evidence was recovered, he added.
Tarar said the recovered documents link key Bahria Town officials, including the chief financial officer and director of finance, to a “hundi-hawala” network allegedly operated by two individuals identified as Imran and Qaiser.
NAB auctions Malik Riaz’s properties worth billions
On Aug 7, NAB conducted a public auction of six commercial properties linked to Malik Riaz / Bahria Town, in efforts to recover defaulted funds from a court-approved plea bargain of 2019.
The move came after chairman Malik Riaz and his son Ali Riaz Malik failed to pay the amount agreed upon under a plea bargain to settle the £190 million case.
