PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the recruitment of social media influencers scheme implemented during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. The probe focuses on potential irregularities and misuse of powers in the recruitment and management of content developers engaged in the project.
Wanted individuals associated with the content development for the social media influencer initiative are now under NAB scrutiny. The accountability bureau has issued notices, seeking details of the work carried out by these content developers during their tenure.

Notably, during the PTI era, over 1000 individuals were recruited as social media influencers to amplify the government’s performance. However, concerns have been raised regarding the alleged irregularities in the recruitment process and the subsequent use of these influencers.
NAB, in its notices, highlights the need for social media influencers and content developers involved in the project to come forward and provide detailed accounts of their work. The bureau aims to uncover any discrepancies that may have occurred during the execution of the social media initiative.
During the supervisory period, social media influencers and content developers associated with the project were reportedly laid off. The ongoing investigation seeks to shed light on the circumstances surrounding these layoffs and whether they were conducted in adherence to proper procedures.
