ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has made the decision to establish a task force dedicated to addressing white-collar crimes and targeting individuals involved in corruption.
The proposed task force will comprise officers from various key institutions, including the Intelligence agency, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR), and the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). Additionally, there will be two officers each from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Intelligence Bureau (IB), and the Police Service as part of this task force.
Chairman NAB has given approval for the inclusion of new officers within the task force, all of whom possess expertise in combating white-collar crime. Notably, officers from various institutions are already on deputation with NAB.

It’s worth mentioning that on the day of the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court’s retirement, Justice Umar Atta Bandial, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s petition against the NAB amendments as admissible. Nine out of 10 amendments that were approved by the Assembly and Parliament have been revoked, leading to the reinstatement of cases against many political figures.
As a result, the court has directed NAB to transmit all relevant records to the concerned courts within seven days. The bench has also reinstated the provision giving NAB jurisdiction over corruption cases involving sums of up to Rs500 million, a provision that had been abolished by the previous Parliament through the NAB Amendment Act.
