Naqvi says facilitating traders top government priority

KARACHI: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that facilitating traders remains the government’s top priority, adding that authorities will continue to extend full cooperation to the business community.

He said that those who have left the country cannot be discussed further, stressing that the focus should now be on strengthening the economy and making better use of available opportunities.

Naqvi added that it is possible to trace money taken abroad and suggested that even questioning a few individuals could uncover key details. He further said that the Prime Minister and Field Marshal deliver on their commitments.

The Interior Minister remarked that everyone is aware of why money changers are operating, adding that there will be no leniency for money laundering in the current situation.

He advised citizens to use banks for currency exchange, and said businessmen could bring in up to $10 billion before the budget, calling it an achievable target.

Naqvi also claimed that around $100 billion has gone out of Pakistan, adding that even a 30 percent return through Roshan Digital Accounts would be significant.

He emphasized that the entire business community cannot be penalized due to the actions of a few individuals.
