PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced winter vacations for educational institutions across the province, with separate schedules issued for summer and winter zones in view of varying weather conditions.
According to the KP Secretary of Education, educational institutions located in the summer zone of the province will observe winter vacations from January 1 to January 15, 2026. Meanwhile, schools and colleges in the winter zone will remain closed for an extended period, from December 22 to February 28, 2026 due to severe cold and snowfall in hilly and mountainous areas.
The announcement aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff during harsh winter conditions, particularly in upper districts where temperatures drop sharply and access becomes difficult.
PUNJAB, SINDH AND BALOCHISTAN ANNOUNCED VACATIONS
Meanwhile, other provinces have also issued winter vacation schedules. In Punjab, winter holidays will be observed from December 23, 2025, to January 11, 2026, with both government and private schools set to reopen on January 12.
In Balochistan, the Ministry of Education has announced that government and private schools in cold areas will remain closed for two and a half months starting December 16. Officials clarified that this schedule will apply uniformly to all government and private educational institutions in the affected regions.
Similarly, Sindh has declared winter vacations from December 22 to December 31 for schools across the province.
Education authorities across the country say the staggered schedules reflect regional climate differences and are intended to minimise disruption to academic activities while prioritising student safety.
