WEB DESK: Participants of the National Security Workshop visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where they were briefed on Pakistan’s regional and domestic security landscape, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the delegation attended an interactive session with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who highlighted the rapidly evolving regional environment and the challenges posed by intensifying geopolitical competition. He said hybrid warfare, externally sponsored terrorism and information warfare have opened “new fronts” for Pakistan’s security apparatus.

He reiterated that Pakistan is a dignified nation that will secure its rightful place in the world. “National unity is our greatest strength, and the enemy’s designs will fail,” he said, stressing that the protection of every citizen and the country’s borders remains the military’s top priority. “There will be no compromise on Pakistan’s sovereignty,” he added.

Field Marshal Munir emphasised that the armed forces, intelligence agencies and law-enforcement organisations are confronting these threats with “courage and professionalism,” adding that Pakistan’s global standing has improved due to their performance on the frontlines.

The army chief said cooperation with federal and provincial governments continues to ensure sustainable peace and stability. He also spoke about that national and institutional harmony is essential for long-term development.

Participants were additionally briefed on nationwide efforts against smuggling, narcotics and organised crime, as well as measures related to border control and the repatriation of illegal foreign nationals.

The ISPR said that the National Defence University’s programme brings together professionals from various fields to strengthen understanding of national security issues.
