WEB DESK: India is witnessing widespread protests and strikes as citizens from all walks of life express frustration over what they describe as the “incompetence and mismanagement” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. Central trade unions have called a countrywide shutdown, citing worker-unfriendly policies and economic measures that have left ordinary Indians struggling.
According to The New Indian Express, the strike, termed “Bharat Bandh,” is expected to involve nearly 30 crore people across 600 districts. Key sectors including transportation, healthcare, education, and utilities such as gas and water supply have been severely disrupted due to the nationwide shutdown.
Experts say the ongoing protests reflect deep dissatisfaction with Modi’s economic policies, which they argue have increased taxes, reduced public services, and created an insecure future for ordinary citizens. Analysts note that workers and laborers, frustrated by what they describe as “cruel and ineffective” government measures, have taken to the streets to demand reforms.
The rising demonstrations, observers say, highlight a stark contrast between the government’s “Shining India” narrative and the harsh realities faced by its citizens. Widespread participation in the Bharat Bandh underscores the growing discontent and signals a significant challenge for the Modi administration.
