WEB DESK: In a major blow to illicit trade networks, the Pakistan Navy, in collaboration with the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and provincial authorities, has seized a massive consignment of smuggled liquor near the coastal town of Gadani in Balochistan.
The joint intelligence-based operation was executed in close coordination with the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC).
Acting on precise intelligence inputs regarding the movement of contraband, security forces cordoned off the targeted area in Gadani, successfully intercepting the shipment before it could be moved further inland.
International smuggling route busted
According to official sources, the sizeable liquor consignment had been transported from international destinations via sea routes, attempting to bypass maritime surveillance to reach Pakistani shores.
Smuggling networks frequently attempt to exploit the vast Balochistan coastline, prompting security agencies to step up vigilance along key maritime corridors.
Following the successful interception, the recovered contraband was safely secured and subsequently handed over to the Excise, Taxation & Anti Narcotics Department (South Zone) Balochistan.
Provincial authorities have initiated further legal proceedings and are investigating the domestic linkages of the smuggling network.
Inter-agency cooperation yields results
Officials stated that the success of the raid underscores the critical importance and effectiveness of inter-agency coordination in countering smuggling operations.
By pooling intelligence and operational capabilities, the Pakistan Navy, PMSA, and provincial anti-narcotics teams have demonstrated a unified front against illicit trafficking.
Maritime security analysts note that such coordinated efforts are essential for securing Pakistan’s maritime frontiers and preventing the influx of contraband, which not only impacts the national economy but also fuels criminal networks.
Security agencies have reiterated their commitment to maintaining a strict vigil along the coastline to deter similar illegal activities in the future.
