ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif has urged all the parties in the country to pursue their political goals, but not at the cost of Pakistan and the system. He said that he was ready to work with anyone who shared his vision of a prosperous and democratic nation.
Speaking to the members of his parliamentary party, Nawaz Sharif recalled his efforts to reach out to his rivals after the 2013 election, which he won with a clear majority.
He said that he visited the injured PTI leader Imran Khan in the hospital, suspended his election campaign for a day, and later went to his house in Bani Gala to seek his cooperation. The PML-N chief said that he wanted to put aside the allegations of rigging and focus on the common challenges facing the country.
He said that all the parties should do their politics in a constructive and responsible manner, and respect the mandate of the people and the constitution.
Nawaz said that he was committed to strengthening the system and safeguarding the interests of Pakistan. He said that he hoped that everyone would join him in this noble mission.
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif said that calling the assembly session is the constitutional duty of the president and he is committing a violation of the constitution by not calling the session.
Addressing the participants of the PML-N parliamentary, Shehbaz Sharif said that the president of Pakistan was once again trampling the constitution and tearing the constitution apart. He said that calling the assembly session was his constitutional duty which he ignored and did so at the behest of Imran Khan Niazi.
He said that the president also violated the constitution in the past by not allowing the no-confidence motion against him, and was doing the same now by not letting the elected members take oath.
Shehbaz Sharif also praised Nawaz Sharif for his achievements and leadership. He said that under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, they rescued Pakistan from the brink of economic collapse in his 16-month tenure, and had initiated many development projects for the welfare of the people. He said that he would request Nawaz Sharif to become the prime minister again, and he would serve the country as his loyal worker.
