Nawaz Sharif expresses solidarity with Iran over Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Monday expressed condolences to Iran following the assasination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, calling it a moment of “deep emotional, political and national implications” for the Iranian nation.

In a post on X, Sharif conveyed his “heartfelt condolences to the government and the people of Iran on the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader”.

“This is a significant moment in the history of Iran as such a loss carries deep emotional, political, and national implications,” he wrote, adding that he stood in solidarity with the Iranian people during the mourning period and extended sympathies to those grieving.

Sharif reaffirmed the importance of “stability, peace and mutual respect among nations, particularly in our region,” amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

“May Allah Almighty grant eternal peace and blessings to the departed soul and provide the courage, resilience and steadfastness to the Iranian nation in facing this profound and irreparable loss,” he added.
