LONDON: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expected to depart from London and return to Pakistan on October 15, according to party sources.

Party sources indicate that Nawaz Sharif is likely to arrive in Lahore instead of Islamabad upon his return and he is anticipated to make his journey back to Pakistan via a passenger plane.

Responsibilities have been delegated to the party’s leadership to make arrangements for Nawaz Sharif’s reception upon his arrival.

Maryam Nawaz, the chief organizer of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), is actively supervising the arrangements for Nawaz Sharif’s reception.

Sharif brothers’ extended stay in UK raises concerns among Pakistani N-Leaguers

According to sources, a significant number of PML-N leaders have suggested that Nawaz Sharif should choose Lahore as his arrival destination instead of Islamabad.

A number of members of Pakistan’s N-League party had started expressing concerns over the prolonged presence of the party’s top leadership in London, citing potential negative optics.

Shehbaz Sharif arrived in London shortly after the caretaker government assumed office, while the elder Sharif and influential decision-maker in the party, Nawaz Sharif, has been residing in the UK since 2019.

Several seasoned N-League members believe that drawing attention to the party leadership’s absence from the country is unwise.
