NDMA issues heavy rain, snowfall alert

ISLAMABAD: The NDMA has issued a warning for possible heavy rain along with snowfall in different parts of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of the country.

In Punjab, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, and nearby areas are expected to experience rain over the next 24 to 48 hours, NDMA said. Likewise, the capital city of Islamabad is likely to experience heavy rain during the same period of time.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, most districts may see rain, while snowfall is expected in the higher areas.

Snowfall is predicted in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Naran, Kaghan, and the Galiyat region.

Authorities have warned that rain and snow could make roads slippery and disrupt traffic.

Rescue teams and road maintenance authorities have been asked to stay alert.

NDMA is making sure the public and relevant departments get early warnings about these possible hazards.
