ISLAMABAD: ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved the federal government’s request for a uniform electricity tariff across the country, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The government had submitted the request on January 1, 2026, seeking a standardised tariff for all consumers, including domestic, commercial, and industrial users. Previously, NEPRA had approved separate tariffs for distribution companies and K-Electric for 2026.
The new uniform tariff aims to provide a single rate for all consumers nationwide, with both K-Electric and the distribution companies following the same tariff structure. Basic tariffs for all consumers will remain unchanged.
Domestic consumers will continue to pay 47.69 rupees per unit for electricity. Lifeline consumers using up to 50 units per month will pay 3.95 rupees per unit, while those consuming 51–100 units per month will be charged 7.74 rupees per unit.
Protected consumers using 1–100 units per month will pay 10.54 rupees per unit, and those consuming 101–200 units will pay 13.01 rupees per unit.
Non-protected domestic consumers will pay 22.44 rupees per unit for 1–100 units, 28.91 rupees per unit for 101–200 units, 33.10 rupees per unit for 201–300 units, 37.99 rupees per unit for 301–400 units, 40.22 rupees per unit for 401–500 units, 41.62 rupees per unit for 501–600 units, 42.76 rupees per unit for 601–700 units, and 47.69 rupees per unit for consumption above 700 units.
NEPRA said the uniform tariff will ensure consistency for all electricity consumers nationwide while keeping basic rates intact. Earlier, NEPRA had approved a reduction of 62 paisa per unit in the basic electricity tariff for 2026. The regulator submitted its decision to the federal government after reviewing the request for a uniform tariff.
