NEPRA notifies Rs1.42 per unit increase in electricity tariff

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the electricity tariff across Pakistan, including Karachi, by Rs1.42 per unit under the latest monthly adjustment, said a notification on Thursday.

The increase, announced under the February 2026 monthly adjustment, will be reflected in consumers’ April electricity bills and collected during the current billing cycle.

According to the notification, the hike will apply to consumers across the country, including those of K-Electric, in line with government policy guidelines. However, lifeline consumers and electric vehicle charging stations have been exempted from the increase.

The NEPRA said that the decision was finalised after completing a hearing on the February adjustment and subsequently issuing the formal notification.

The latest increase comes on the heels of a similar adjustment in January, when electricity prices were raised by Rs1.63 per unit.

The successive increases add to the burden on consumers already grappling with rising utility costs, with monthly adjustments continuing to drive fluctuations in electricity tariffs across the country.
