LAHORE: The National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) has developed a route map for a tram service in Lahore, inspired by Finland’s and China’s tram systems.
According to details, the route will cover nine major locations on Main Boulevard Gulberg. NESPAK has prepared a 3D video for the final presentation to the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab Maryam Nawaz. The video shows the route and the travel time between each stop.
The route will start from Kalma Chowk, with the first stop being Qaddafi Stadium. Stops will also include Hafeez Center, Raja Center, and Main Market.
From Main Market, it will proceed to Home Economics College and then make a U-turn back on Main Boulevard. The tram will pass through Mini Market and MM Alam Road, with the final stop being Kalma Chowk.
Chief Engineer of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Israr Saeed, stated that the tram will complete the entire route in the minimum time possible. Covering the business and commercial hub of Gulberg, the tram will save citizens millions in fuel costs every month. The project will be designed according to current needs and modern standards.
