New music policy ‘breathes life into industry’: Marriyum

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting (MoIB) Marriyum Aurangzeb, on Monday, announced the finalisation of Pakistan’s first music policy draft.
The new music policy will give music industry a new lease of life with numerous incentives and facilities claimed the minister who also added that it will address the longstanding issues of intellectual and copy rights faced by artists in the country.
According to her, the legal framework of the proposed policy covers several aspects including public performances as well as music production and distribution.
“This will resolve the problems of users pertaining to licenses and the legal rights of music producers, singers, writers, lyricists will be safeguarded through the policy,” she added.
