New school timings introduced across the province

KP School timing

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced new school timings for government institutions while introducing a comprehensive set of directives aimed at strengthening discipline, academic continuity, and character development among students.

According to an official statement issued on Monday by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, primary schools across the province will now operate from 7:30am to 1:35pm under the revised schedule.

Focus on Moral and Character Development

In a significant move, the department has made it mandatory for all schools to include structured moral and character-building activities in their daily morning assemblies. The initiative is designed to promote ethical values, confidence, and positive behavior among students.

As part of the new framework:

Students will deliver speeches on selected topics three days a week
Skits and practical demonstrations will be organized on the remaining days

This balanced approach aims to enhance both communication skills and practical understanding of moral values.

Weekly Bazm-i-Adab Introduced

To encourage creativity and literary engagement, school administrations have been directed to hold a weekly “Bazm-i-Adab” on the last working day of each week. The session will provide students with a platform to showcase their talents in writing, speech, and performance.

Following the Bazm-i-Adab session, the last three periods of the day will be allocated for staff meetings and completion of official tasks and records.

Measures to Ensure Academic Continuity

Addressing the issue of teacher shortages and prolonged absences, the department has instructed head teachers and subject specialists to step in and conduct classes when required. This measure aims to prevent disruption in the learning process and maintain academic continuity.

Strict Implementation Directed

The government has tasked all District Education Officers (DEOs) with ensuring strict implementation of the revised timetable and newly introduced guidelines across all government schools in the province.

The latest reforms reflect the KP government’s broader effort to improve the quality of education by combining academic learning with character-building initiatives, ensuring a more holistic development of students.
