Nihal Hashmi appointed as Sindh governor: Who is Nihal Hashmi?

KARACHI: Newly appointed Governor of Sindh Nehal Hashmi addressed his first official press conference after assuming office, reiterating public service, national unity, and inclusive representation across the province.

Speaking to the media at the Governor House, Hashmi said Pakistan came into existence through the tireless efforts and leadership of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, adding that it is the responsibility of leaders to serve the country in the same spirit. He stressed that the Governor House would represent every district and village of Sindh, and remain open to the people.

The governor spoke on the importance of responsible communication, urging the public and media to understand the difference between fake news and propaganda. He said he had entered the field with a passion to serve the people of Sindh and to address their concerns.

Hashmi also praised the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, saying he laid a vast network of motorways across the country and played a key role in ending load shedding and terrorism. He further commended Shehbaz Sharif, stating that the prime minister is managing the country’s affairs effectively and is widely appreciated internationally.

The governor reiterated that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has always pursued politics focused on service to the people. Without naming opponents, he remarked that those who made grand claims in the past had ultimately been rejected by the public.

Addressing social initiatives, Hashmi announced that starting tomorrow, arrangements for Sehri and Iftar would be made at the Governor House for deserving individuals during the holy month of Ramadan.

He also paid tribute to the Pakistan Navy, saying the force has secured the country’s economic lifeline and plays a vital role in safeguarding maritime interests.

The governor assured that every part of Sindh would receive its due rights and development opportunities. He said that nothing would take place in the Governor House that contradicts the country’s traditions and values.

“Governor House is your home,” Hashmi told the public, adding that he considers himself merely a caretaker responsible for serving the people of the province.
