A new rain-bearing weather system is expected to enter Pakistan today, bringing widespread rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall across several regions, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The Met Office said a westerly wave will move into the upper parts of the country, increasing the likelihood of thunderstorms in multiple cities over the next 24 hours, while higher elevations are expected to receive fresh snowfall. Officials warned that intermittent heavy rainfall may continue through April 17.
Cloud cover is expected today in northern areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, and Abbottabad, with rain likely to follow. By tomorrow, the system is forecast to bring rainfall to major urban centers such as Islamabad, Murree, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Sialkot.
Meanwhile, snowfall is also predicted in upper mountainous regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Authorities have advised residents to stay updated on weather conditions, as heavy downpours and storms could disrupt travel and daily activities in affected areas over the coming days.
