New winter timings announced for schools in Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab government announced new winter timings for schools in the province, effective from October 15 to March 31, 2025.

According to a notification from the Punjab Department of School Education, schools will operate from 8:45am to 2:45pm from Monday through Thursday, with early closure at 1:30pm on Fridays. Teachers will report from 8:30am to 3pm ofrom Monday through Thursday and from 8:30am to 1pm on Fridays.

The change in school hours during winter is a regular practice in Punjab, primarily aimed at ensuring students’ safety and well-being.

The later start accommodates colder morning temperatures, which can pose health risks, especially for young children.

Additionally, winter fog and reduced daylight contribute to this decision, allowing for safer commutes. This adjustment balances educational continuity with necessary precautionary measures during the season.
