No ambiguity in July 12 decision of allowing PTI to get reserved seats: SC

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has issued a clarification regarding the reserved seats case, following petitions from the Election Commission and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

An eight-member bench of the Court released the clarification, emphasising that there is no ambiguity in the majority decision delivered on July 12.

A written order issued today by the apex court in response to the Election Commission’s request for guidance on specific legal and factual issues stated that, after reviewing all evidence presented, there is little the Commission’s request for clarification is a “contrived device” and use of “dilatory tactics” intended to delay, obstruct, and hinder the implementation of the court’s decision.

On July 12, a 13-member full bench of the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, issued a short order regarding a petition filed by the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC)—a party primarily consisting of PTI-backed candidates—challenging an order from the Peshawar High Court (PHC).
