ISLAMABAD: A local court on Thursday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur in an audio leak case.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Nasr Minallah Baloch conducted the hearing, during which the co-accused appeared before the court. Gandapur, however, remained absent, leading the judge to order that he be arrested and produced before the court.
Due to his absence, the indictment proceedings were postponed. The court later adjourned the hearing until January 20. The case against Gandapur has been registered at the Golra Police Station.
INTERIM BAIL OF PTI LEADERS EXTENDED
Meanwhile, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore extended the interim bail of several PTI leaders in six May 9 cases, including those related to arson and the encirclement of public property.
The cases involve incidents such as the burning of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) office and the torching of a container at Kalma Chowk during the May 9 unrest.
PTI leaders, including Azam Khan Swati, appeared before the court following the expiry of their earlier bail period. Joint Investigation Team (JIT) officials presented their report, declaring all accused, including Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, guilty.
The accused leaders have also sought interim bail in related cases stemming from the May 9 events. The list includes Azam Khan Swati, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, Mussrat Jamshed Cheema, Hafiz Farhat Abbas, and several other PTI members. The ATC has extended their interim bail until January 16.
