NY, NJ, CT schools in US announce closings, delays for today

NEW YORK: Education authorities in the US announced closings and delays for major schools across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, as they seek to minimise disruption during inclement weather.

Following the notification, Marlboro Central, the East Islip, and Riverhead School Districts in New York have together experienced a two-hour delay as a precautionary measure.

In Jew Jersey, many cities, including Barnegat Township and Colts Neck Township, also followed the proactive measures, delaying the practices by 90 to 2 hours following the issuance of the notification.

Such decisions are always made by the US in favour of the citizens, aimed at saving any of the possible threats. However, the same decision also reveals a deep-seated tension between maintaining academic schedules and safeguarding students’ well-being.

But these districts, as mentioned above, where particularly academics have been badly affected, are not alone in facing the irregular weather pattern, as other states are also prepared to avoid any such threats.
For Instance, in the UK and Canada, similarly harsh conditions have prompted discussions regarding the preparedness of schools to manage such disruptions. Likewise, the Australian education system remains vigilant about potential climate-related challenges as winter approaches in the Southern Hemisphere.
