Official Secrets Act: No hearing today

IHC notification

ISLAMABAD: The scheduled hearing for the case pertaining to the Official Secrets Act will not take place today as Special Court Judge Abul Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain is on leave.

The court had been expected to hear the bail application of Chairman PTI and Shah Mahmood Qureshi today.

Parties involved in the case had been summoned to present their arguments during this session.

However, due to the judge’s absence, the proceedings will be postponed to a later date.

The former foreign minister was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) earlier this month in connection with a first information report (FIR) registered on August 15 under the Official Secrets Act, 1923 against Chairman PTI and vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

The FIR alleged that Khan, Qureshi and their other associates were involved in the communication of information contained in a secret classified document (cipher telegram received from Parep Washington dated March 7, 2022, to the Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to unauthorised persons by “twisting facts to achieve their ulterior motives and personal gains in a manner prejudicial to the interests of state security”.
