WEB DESK: The Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) has announced a significant discovery of oil and gas reserves at the Bobby Deep-1 well in Sanghar district of Sindh province, marking a positive development for Pakistan’s energy sector.
The new find is expected to strengthen domestic hydrocarbon production and ease pressure on the country’s import bill at a time when energy security remains a key national priority.
Promising production rates
According to an OGDC spokesperson, the Bobby Deep-1 well is currently producing 2,000 barrels of oil per day and 1.1 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas.

The spokesperson described the discovery as one that has brightened prospects for further exploration activities in the surrounding area.
Officials believe the reserve will contribute meaningfully to increasing Pakistan’s overall oil and gas production and proven reserves.
Boost for energy self-reliance
The fresh discovery comes as a welcome development for the national economy, with the potential to help meet domestic energy demand and reduce reliance on expensive imported fuel. It is also anticipated to play a role in lowering the country’s overall import bill.

OGDC, Pakistan’s leading exploration and production company, has expressed optimism that the success at Bobby Deep-1 could pave the way for additional drilling campaigns in the region, further bolstering the nation’s efforts towards energy self-sufficiency.
