ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has initiated an inquiry into the participation of Okara Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the cake-cutting ceremony of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) supremo, Nawaz Sharif.

A video circulating on social media platform X captured the DSP actively engaging in the event.

Criticism from netizens has poured in, condemning the DSP’s involvement in a political gathering, particularly the celebration of Nawaz Sharif’s birthday.

Calls for disciplinary action against the Okara DSP’s conduct have been voiced by concerned citizens.

In response to the public outcry, the ECP has summoned DSP Meher Yusuf today to address the alleged violation of the code of conduct.

The ECP emphasized the need for an immediate response from DSP Meher Yusuf, urging him to explain his presence at the Okara political rally.

Failure to provide a satisfactory explanation may lead to disciplinary action against the DSP, according to the Election Commission.
