Onion prices skyrocket across Pakistan

LAHORE: The relentless surge in onion prices continues across the nation, with the cost per u kilogramme now exceeding Rs300.
In the current week, the onion prices have soared to Rs320 per kilogramme placing a considerable strain on residents in Islamabad who are now faced with the challenge of affording this essential vegetable.
Reports indicate varying prices across different cities, with Islamabad topping the chart at Rs320 per u kilogramme, followed by Rs310 in Rawalpindi, Rs280 in Peshawar, and Rs270 in Sialkot. Meanwhile, Karachi, Lahore, and Gujranwala are experiencing a slightly lower price, reaching up to Rs240 per kilogramme. In Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, and Bahawalpur, onions are being sold at Rs220 per kilogram.

In Quetta, Sukkur, and Larkana, the price has stabilized at Rs220 per kilogramme , while Khuzdar stands at Rs250. Hyderabad and Bannu witness the lowest rates at Rs200 per kilogramme.
