Operation Ghazab lil-Haq: Afghan Taliban retreat after Pakistan’s forceful response

Pakistani security forces have forced Afghan Taliban fighters to retreat following what officials described as unprovoked aggression, according to an update issued at 10:00am on February 27 under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq.

The statement said troops of the Pakistan Army, “charged with patriotism,” responded to the attack with full force, raising slogans of “Nara-e-Takbeer” as they countered the enemy’s advance. Authorities maintained that Pakistan employed its complete military capability in response to the alleged aggression.

Security forces made extensive use of air power, artillery fire and quadcopters during the operation, reportedly destroying multiple Afghan Taliban posts and headquarters along the border.

The statement reiterated that the armed forces of Pakistan remain fully prepared to counter any form of aggression and possess the capability to deliver a robust and decisive response.

Powerful response

In a powerful response to unprovoked aggression along the Pak-Afghan border, Pakistani security forces launched Operation Ghazb-Lil-Haq, inflicting heavy losses on Afghan Taliban militants and reinforcing the country’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty. According to security sources, Taliban fighters opened fire at multiple locations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, prompting a swift, coordinated, and precise counter-offensive by Pakistan’s armed forces.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed that 133 Taliban operatives were killed and over 200 injured, with further casualties expected as operations continue. The military targeted key Taliban defense installations in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar, and destroyed 27 enemy posts while capturing nine others. Heavy losses were reported across multiple sectors, including Chitral, Bajaur, Tirah, Mohmand, Kurram, and Arandu, demonstrating the effectiveness of Pakistan’s defensive strategy.

Strong Response Across Multiple Fronts

The operation significantly degraded Taliban capabilities, with more than 36 enemy tanks, several artillery guns, and armored personnel carriers neutralised. Pakistani forces also destroyed two corps headquarters, three brigade headquarters, two ammunition depots, and other strategic infrastructure, striking a severe blow to the Taliban’s command and logistics network.

Officials emphasised that Pakistan’s armed forces remain fully prepared to defend every inch of its territory, and any future provocation will be met with an even stronger response. State authorities and military leaders reiterated that defending the nation’s sovereignty and citizens’ safety is non-negotiable. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry condemned the Afghan regime’s actions, noting Pakistan’s preference for peaceful dialogue but underscoring its readiness to use full military power if needed.

Operation Ghazb-Lil-Haq has sent a clear message to hostile forces: any threat to Pakistan’s territorial integrity will be met with decisive, overwhelming force, with the armed forces standing united alongside the nation.
