Over 0.1m students apply for Punjab govt’s motorcycle scheme

LAHORE: Over 0.1 million students in Punjab have applied for the government’s initiative to provide interest-free motorcycles.

The dedicated e-bike portal for the programme shows the number of applicants exceeding 100,000.

Under the programme 20,000 electric and petrol bikes will be distributed to students enrolled in universities and graduate colleges across the province.

Students of five cities of Punjab residing in Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, and Rawalpindi are eligible to apply for the bike programmes. The last date to apply is April 29.

The government will cover both the down payment and the monthly instalment markup.

This initiative seeks to address transportation challenges faced by students by facilitating easy access to motorcycles through a manageable instalment plan.

The student should be 18 years or older to apply for the programme.
