Over 900 people fall victim to terrorism in 2023: NA told

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that at least 930 people were killed and over 1,900 injured in Pakistan in 2023.

While presenting an annual report of the incidents in the National Assembly, he said that last year, Pakistan witnessed a total of 930 deaths and 1,992 injuries owing to terrorism including officials and civilians.

The annual report highlighted a total of 626 attacks in Balochistan, which resulted in 315 deaths and 477 casualties. The murdered people in Balochistan included 148 officials, 167 civilians, while 198 officials and 279 citizens were injured.

According to the report, a total of 580 people were killed and 1,447 injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a total 558 terrorist attacks. Among them were 402 officials and 178 civilians.

According to the report, Sindh saw a total of 19 attacks, which resulted in 14 deaths and 31 casualties. Eight officials were among those killed and 26 injured.

Similarly, Punjab saw eight attacks, resulting in 12 deaths and 11 injuries. The victims included 11 officials and one civilian, the report said.

Islamabad witnessed no terrorist attacks, while Gilgit-Baltistan witnessed three attacks, leading to nine deaths and 26 injuries.
